Provost Mary Croughan has issued the 2026 annual notice regarding UC Davis’s commitment to NAGPRA and CalNAGPRA compliance.

The 2026 annual notice emphasizes:

  • Proactive Reviews: All departments must review existing collections that may contain archaeological or ethnographic objects.
  • Research Restrictions: Use of Native American or Native Hawaiian remains or cultural items in research or instruction is prohibited without explicit tribal and university approval.
  • Reporting Requirements: Any previously unreported items must be disclosed to the Repatriation Coordinator immediately.
